Grasses and Spikies

This is a list of all the grasses and grass-like plants we stock. I have included phormiums

cordylines and astelias etc as they seem to belong to this category more than any other

even though botanically they are not grasses!

Arundo donax (Giant reed)-Grows to over 10 feet in its first season. Very hardy.

Arundo donax variegata -More decorative than the above but allegedly not as tough.

Calamagrostis acutiflora "Karl Foerster"

Carex flag. "Frosted Curls"

Carex morrowii "Fishers Form" Variegated sedge.

Cortaderia selloana "Pink feather" Pink flowering pampas grass. These can get BIG.

Cortaderia selloana "Pumila" white flowered shorter form.

Cortaderia selloana "Splendid Star" pretty variegated dwarf form. Going to be good for containers!

Cortaderia selloana "Sunningdale Silver" tall growing with silky silver plumes.

Festuca glauca "Blue Fox" a mid blue fescue. Evergreen.

Festuca glauca "Elijah Blue" the best of the blue fescues. Evergreen.

Hakonechloa macra. aureola (golden hakone grass)

Helictotrichon sempervirens Really great steely blue long leaves.

Imperata cylindrica "Red Baron" (Japanese blood grass) Wonderful colour.

Lagurus ovatus "Bunny Tails" Dwarf annual grass. May only be an annual but they self-seed like crazy.

Miscanthus sinensis "Kleine Fontaine" pinky brown flowers.

Miscanthus sinensis "Morning Light" pinky flowers above variegated foliage.

Miscanthus sinensis "Strictus" tall growing yellow banded grass.

Miscanthus sinensis "Zebrinus" tall growing creamy banded grass.

Pennisetum "Burgundy Giant" (Ornamental millet) Huge annual, red foliage.

Pennisetum alopecuroides (Japanese fountain grass)

Pennisetum "Little Bunny" dwarf form.

Pennnisetum setaceum (Pink fountain grass)

Pennisetum setaceum rubrum (Purple fountain grass) burgundy foliage.

Pennisetum villosum. White flowered form.

Stipa Arundinacea (New Zealand wind grass) Evergreen, good autumn colour.

Stipa barbata "Silver Feather"

Stipa capillata "Bridal Veil" Tall grass with unusual flowers.

Stipa gigantea (Golden oat  grass) semi-evergreen with very tall flower stems.

 

 

 

Phalaris arundinacea "Gardeners Garters" fast-growing striped grass.
